How To Properly Set a Table

I have been working on a Home Ec class for my kids. (Its printed and waiting to be bound and/or laminated.) One of the activities is setting the table. When I came across this post on my Facebook feed I felt I should share it as many of us do get confused and some of us really don’t care.

Community and Cops Christmas Fundraiser

I came across this on my Facebook feed this morning. As many of you may remember my family had the opportunity to meet Officer Bobby White, aka the Basketball Cop, last year. Then in September our local square dance clubs held a toy collection for the Basketball Cop. We were then able to present the gifts to Officers Bobby White and Becki Holcomb in October.

Not only do they help organizations here in our own communities and state they also help others all across the United States. Currently the Basketball Cop Foundation is hosting a fundraiser for the Community and Cops Christmas in Jacksonville,AR: Continue reading “Community and Cops Christmas Fundraiser”

Buttermilk Biscuits

I remember learning to make these when I was really young. My first experience baking them was in a wood stove! While I’m thankful for modern conveniences nothing compares to the taste of those first biscuits I made.

A lot of people shy away from making biscuits from scratch but they are really quite simple. The unbaked biscuits also freeze well for later use! Continue reading “Buttermilk Biscuits”

So late Wednesday night DD18 decided she needed to go to Walmart to get a couple of things. Normally I try to wait until I do my weekly grocery trip but she insisted it couldn’t wait.

I hadn’t planned on buying anything but once we got there I realized that I needed to grab a couple of items just in case I didn’t make it back later this week. We were good on groceries but I needed a couple of items for when we go hunting the next time. (I’m hoping it’ll be this weekend.) I’m sharing what I found in the event you may also be looking for some gifts for any hunters you may know. Continue reading “Midweek Walmart Trip (Hunting Supplies)”

Today has been a bit crazy. We didn’t get home until late last night from the Fall Festival Carnival Dance and I was so tired! I really didn’t want to get up this morning but I did manage to drag myself out of bed and after a cup of cappuccino from my Keurig I was able to focus my eyes enough to start breakfast. Using Diatomaceous Earth In Your Home

You may be wondering just what the heck Diatomaceous Earth is and what is used for. Well Diatomaceous Earth or (DE) is a fine powder made up of tiny fossilized plankton. It has a variety of uses that range from cleaners, health and beauty products, pest control, etc.

It is also very rich in silica which is needed for healthy teeth, skin, nails, hair, and bones. We have used it here in our home for a wide range of issues. Most recently we have used it in our Natural Facial Scrub/Mask. I try to make sure to buy the Food Grade kind as I know we will be using them in so many ways.

Reseachers have found all kinds of health benefits to DE like: Continue reading “Using Diatomaceous Earth In Your Home”

Homemade Jewelry Cleaner

I wear a lot of costume jewelry when I go square dancing. It just completes some of my outfits and adds a bit of sparkle which is so pretty when you are dancing and twirling.

What happens when your favorite jewelry loses that sparkle? Continue reading “Homemade Jewelry Cleaner”

Square Dancing: Fall Festival Carnival Dance

Today we attended the NEFSARDA Fall Festival Carnival Dance at Palms Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville Beaches. There was a wonderful turnout and lots of lively dancing. I’m still a bit dizzy from all the whirling and twirling we did! Continue reading “Square Dancing: Fall Festival Carnival Dance”

Keurig: Cutting The K-Cup Cost

**Please note this post does contain affiliate links to which I may, possibly, earn a small commission from if you click on and purchase an item. For full disclosure click here.

So a couple of weeks ago I wrote about the Keurig Coffee maker I had received as a gift. We are still using it and still loving it. We used it over the weekend to make some big insulated cups  (I also have a couple of these) of coffee and cocoa to take with me when going on our hunting adventure.

One way we have found to save a bit of money is by not buying the cocoa in K-cups but rather the individual packets. The water heats up quicker than my tea pot and you can have a cup of cocoa in seconds. (I have a homemade cocoa mix that we will be using soon.) Continue reading “Keurig: Cutting The K-Cup Cost”

Square Dancing: November 17, 2017

We had a great time tonight in Starke. I danced holes in my stockings! Unfortunately I didn’t get any pics or videos to share however I do have a cute video.

This outfit is a secondhand outfit I bought. I absolutely love it although Mr. Awesome says it reminds him of a loveseat.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Luscious Four Layer Pumpkin Cake

This is a reblog of one of my favorite holiday recipes…. I love this cake and I am determined to make it this year… I may even make it before Thanksgiving as I really want to enjoy it. It’s kind of hard to enjoy something so yummy when you are stuffed from all that turkey and other goodies from a big dinner.

Maybe this year we will kind of stretch out Thanksgiving a bit and have a few of our favorites throughout the Thanksgiving/Christmas season so we can enjoy them even more.
