As you all know I’ve always been partial to Amazon because you don’t need to leave your house, or couch, to get what you need. While this isn’t always a good thing to have everything just a click away it has been very useful during this COVID pandemic. Here are just a few of our favorite purchases lately:
(Yes, this is an affiliate link so if you happen to make a purchase through this link or any others sprinkled in this post we may get a teeny-weeny little kickback at no extra cost to you. Thank you for supporting our family!)
This little caterpillar has been a favorite here lately. It can be used for tummy time and for sitting. It provides the extra support that Shyanne needs due to her hypotonia. She loves the bright colors and the only thing that would make it better would be if it had some different textures for her to explore.
We also love this little chair:
This one seems to be widely recommended by many therapists for little ones with hypotonia as it gives plenty of support. Shyanne loves the toys and I love that the tray is removable so we could use it for snacks and such later on.
We use a big book underneath and I added a little extra cushioning (cut up pool noodles) around the back to help support her head. I’m also working on a list of products that can be beneficial to kiddos with hypotonia or weak muscles.
Shyanne hasn’t played with this one yet but we bought it because we needed something like this for therapy… most of my other kiddos had similar toys as well. I liked that it has non-toxic paint and that it is all made of wood so it should be pretty durable. I’m really hoping to keep a lot of these baby toys/products in good shape for my future grandbabies… hint, hint… no rush though. 🙂
Another great investment that I found on sale a couple of months ago. Our king size bed had been her ‘play yard’ after her open heart surgery but she was soon rolling and scooting everywhere so it became not safe for her to be there for very long. We had a bigger play pen but it was so hard to reach down to put her in and get her out that it wasn’t being used as much as it could’ve been. She was under sternal precautions for several weeks following surgery so we could only scoop her up… no picking her up under her arms… which can be quite tricky at times. It is also quite a bit bigger than this one and took up quite a bit more space.
She is in love with her new play pen and we love that the bassinet feature is the perfect height for reaching her. We have her little play mat in the there and she loves it! I also love that when she is bigger we can still use it by removing the bassinet and moving the mattress to the bottom. It also has a diaper changing station and matching diaper stacker so it would be perfect for anywhere.
I also bought these sheets to go with this.
This little girl has been the pickiest of all my kiddos when it comes to bottles. She had some feeding difficulties in the beginning and had a G-tube placed before coming home. Once she was home we were getting along pretty will with the Dr. Brown bottles but then she decided to have her first of many bottle strikes. I bought several different sets of nipples and finally found one she liked and we got through that strike.
The next strike came shortly after she had her heart surgery and nipple changes weren’t enough to resolve it. We had been trying not to use her G-tube so she was nursing quite a bit but she is supposed to get a few bottles of fortified formula a day so things got a bit challenging. I went to Wal-mart and bought one of every bottle they had… some of them I had to get sets of two or three but you get the picture. She decided she liked on of them… at least for a few days until she didn’t.
After some more research I invested in one of these bottles and she loved it so then I bought another for a back up… then of course she decided not to be picky about bottle and it now happy with whatever bottle you give her although she prefers her milk straight from the tap when possible.
These hooks have been a lifesaver! Her diaper bag can be used a variety of ways… over the shoulder, as a back pack, or attached to the stroller. Just remember to wait until you have the baby in the stroller before attaching it… trust me.
The straps for the stroller weren’t very easy for me to attach/unattach so Mr. Awesome found these huge clips which have made life so much easier!
No-tie shoelaces are a must for Mr. William as he just hasnt been able to master the skill of tying his shoes… there are some battles that we just raise the flag and surrender to and this is one of them. Thankfully you can find a variety of no-tie laces on Amazon that can make life much easier for your special needs kiddos… or for anyone who just doesn’t like to tie shoes.
Messy hair is one of the battles that we continue to fight about… my girls have the ‘Messy hair, I don’t care’ attitude but these brushes have helped to calm down the knotties and the frizzies quite a bit since Santa left one in each of their stockings.
Running the heater causes the air to dry out. Dry air causes everyone to start complaining about sore throats and such but these little humidifiers have solved those complaints. I love that these can go for 24+ hours without needing refilled and they are easy to fill… the kids have taken over the job of keeping them filled. I also love that I can add oils to them when we need a little extra mood boost.
My four slice toaster has been around for about 15 years but last year it got dropped and one side refused to pop up on its own. I had another one ordered but it was on back order for so long that I gave up on it and found this one. It isn’t technically a four hole toaster but it will do four slices of bread at a time and they come out perfectly every time.
If you’ve followed my blog for a bit then you know that I love the THM lifestyle even though I am not 100% on plan. I haven’t tried their alternative sweetener but I’m not a big fan of most sweeteners except for this one… I actually prefer this to regular sugar! This has worked great in everything I’ve tried it in from beverages to sweet treats. I especially like to use it in my Lemonade Sippers I make to keep me hydrated throughout the day.
Mr. Awesome has also been fooled a time or two by this one but please don’t tell him that some of his sweet treats might actually be good for him!
I’ve posted about this family favorite before and we still keep it in stock as everyone seems to love it. It does take a little getting used to as it doesn’t feel quite like regular toothpaste but it seems to work much better than regular toothpaste for my kiddos. I also love that you can take a little bit of this and smear on acne or bug bites to make them disappear a lot quicker!
This one was a gift for our sweet nurse who comes three times a week to help take care of little Shyanne. She has been such a blessing to our family and we all love her so much! I chose this one as it had two different lids and two straws with it so it should last for a bit… she also loves her gift!
We have a few more items on our wishlist that we are keeping in mind right now and will probably purchase in the future. Maybe I’ll be able to post about some more products that we use later on or maybe some of the board games that the kids got for Christmas as they’ve enjoyed playing a new game almost everyday.
Wishing you all a blessed week!
