I don’t post a lot of ‘canning’ recipes on here because most of what I know about canning is in my head. I just do things the way I saw them done when I was young and I can’t really guarantee the accuracy of all of them.
This recipe here is a good one for canning and giving out as gifts though. It never seems to stick around that long here though because my kids LOVE applesauce and I love that I know exactly what’s in it. This recipe can also be used for the Crockpot Apple Butter! If you decide to use this for Apple Butter you may want to omit the sugar and seasonings.

Crockpot Applesauce
Crockpot Applesauce printable recipe
Ingredients:
- 10-12 apples (Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, Fuji and/or Honeycrisp work well)
- 1/2 c. sugar (optional)
- 1/2 c.water
- 1 T. lemon juice
- 1/2 t. cinnamon (optional)
- 1/4 t. ground cloves (optional)
Directions:
Peel and core the apples.
Cut into chunks and place into the crockpot.
Add the lemon juice and toss.
Sprinkle with the sugar and cinnamon and stir to coat evenly.
Add water and cover.
Cook on High for about 3-4 hours or Low for 6-7 hours, until the apples are very tender.
Eat while warm or store in the refrigerator for later.
