I don’t post a lot of ‘canning’ recipes on here because most of what I know about canning is in my head. I just do things the way I saw them done when I was young and I can’t really guarantee the accuracy of all of them.
This recipe here is a good one for canning and giving out as gifts though. It really does taste so much better than the store-bought kind too and it makes the house smell so wonderful when it is cooking!
I’ll see if I can dig up my easier crockpot version too!
- 5 c. apple cider or apple juice
- 1 c. cider vinegar
- 4 c. sugar
- 2 t. ground cinnamon
- 1/2 t. ground cloves
- 1/2 t. ground allspice
In a kettle (or large pot), combine apples, cider, and vinegar.
Boil, reduce heat and cover.
Let simmer for 30 minutes.
Press this through a sieve, add other ingredients.
Boil, reduce heat.
Simmer uncovered for 1 1/2 hours or until very thick.
