So this week has been really good. We’ve made a lot of progress as far as finally getting the house organized and getting our routines simplified. I feel like I can finally breathe. It has never taken me so long to get unpacked and organized after a move before. Just a word of caution to anyone trying to downsize…. it’s probably gonna be a lot harder than what you think!

We have had quite an exciting week that has been packed full of all kinds of planned and unplanned surprises. Keep reading for a brief summary of what we’ve been up to.

Kleaning Missions

Well the main area this week for the FlyLady missions was the Front Porch, Entrance, and Dining Room. I did do a little bit of straightening up on the porch as it was a wreck of cardboard boxes from all the decluttering I’ve been doing. I had also carried quite a bit off to Goodwill to donate as well.T

he Dining Room and Entrance were part of the other half of the Main Room that I didn’t get to work on last month. Well, now the whole room is organized and you can check out this post here for more details about what all we accomplished. I did not get the chance to clean the walls and under/behind the cabinets as this was a tough job to tackle.

Wednesday we had a small cook out here. We carried a bunch of food next door to celebrate the holiday with Poppa and Nanny. We ate way too much and had a great time until we had to leave because William was having another werewolf transformation… lol. Unfortunately we did not get to go anywhere to watch any fireworks but some of the neighbors were setting off some that we could see from the house.

Earlier in the day we also had a Facetime video call with my mom, mom-mom, and pop-pop who are all in Pennsylvania. My mom-mom has been having some health issues and has been back and forth from the hospital several times lately. We are praying that she will have a full recovery but we also know that we need to prepare ourselves for the time when she will be completely healed and out of all of this physical pain and discomfort here on earth. I know it will be a sad time but there will be a lot rejoicing one day when we all meet again.

I did get a couple of yummy dessert recipes posted this week and have a few more scheduled to post later this month. Here are the links in case you missed them:Strawberry Pudding Poke CakeMomma’s Blackberry Cobbler

Doctor Visits

On Thursday I took Joey for an eye doctor’s appointment. He was pretty excited to go and find out if he needed glasses or not. I’ll be posting the outcome of this visit soon.

Date Night

Thursday we had an impromptu date night. Mr. Awesome took me to dinner at Chili’s where I had the chicken quesadillas which were so good. After dinner we went to the movie theater where we watched Oceans 8. This was a great movie with several of my favorite actresses, including Sandra Bullock.

My second oldest son turned 23 this week! WOW! Where has time went? It seems like only yesterday I was bringing him home from the hospital. He has grown into a fine young man and I am so proud of him.

 Family Fun

We normally go square dancing on Mondays and Fridays every week but I was truly exhausted on Monday and a couple of the kids had not been behaving so I made the decision to stay home.img_1813

By the time Friday rolled around I was ready to go dancing. I pulled out my blue dress w/white trim, red belt, red crinoline, and my red square dance slippers. I also pulled out my patriotic jewelry that I had bought last year. I had several people compliment the pretty necklace and earrings and a couple of them ordered their own from Amazon.

After the dance a small group headed to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. We chatted for a while as we ate. After dinner we chatted some more outside and we caught the attention of a couple of people. One lady came back to speak with us. It turned out the her husband and her had once been square dancers. He had passed away a few years ago but she was interested in our little group. I gave her a yellow rock, invited her to come visit us, and check us out on Facebook.

The guys continued talking for what seemed like hours. I tried clicking my ruby red heels together while closing my eyes and repeating ‘There’s no place like home, there’s no place like home…’ They didn’t work like they did in the movie so I just had to wait it out and eventually we were headed home.

Mail Call

As many of you may remember in my post here I said I placed a HUGE order of homeschool supplies from Lakeshore Learning. Some of these goodies have started to arrive which makes me grateful that we had finished organizing our homeschool cabinets.

Here is a little sneak peek of all the materials we’ve received so far:

The kids thought it was Christmas and they are all so excited to get started learning with all of these new items. William was thrilled and is eager to learn as well. I’m sure you will be seeing a lot of these items in our future posts. I will probably also post some of them on my Instagram as well.

You might have also seen the Hello Fresh box in that top picture. We did receive our first order to try out and hopefully I’ll be posting that review later on this week too. Looks like this week is gonna be pretty busy!

We also received this new piece of furniture in the mail this week:

This is a really nice piece and it came fully assembled. It fit in the area between the wall and the table really well. I really liked the 6 drawer one put it was too big for this area. The computer and the cameo fit perfectly on here and my mobile office has been relocated.I also received this book in the mail this week:

I haven’t read the whole book yet but I have enjoyed it so far.I am also reading ‘131 Stress Busters And Mood Boosters For Kids: How to help kids ease anxiety, feel happy, and reach their goals!‘ for FREE with Kindle Unlimited. I am finding this a really interesting book and love learning how to help my kids learn to avoid life’s marshmallows.

Kirby’s Kids

Monday I was able to sit down and have a little Puberty talk with the girls. We also found this little video on YouTube that they really enjoyed and they said it helped them a lot.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OR1XJZ0xRSoAfterwards I decided to get online and see if I could order some of the FREE Period Starter Kits I had ordered before for my older girls. It turns out that the companies who once offered these kits no longer do as someone got offended by them…Instead I headed to my favorite online shopping store, AMAZON, and found these Menstruation Kit – First Period Kit To-go! kits as well as these Phennie’s Womens Big Girls Menstrual Period Briefs Teen Girls No Leak Underwear Pack .

Each girl got one little purse with the basic supplies and 2 pair of underwear. I have bought these underwear for myself in the past and they have saved my from mishaps on more than one occasion. I plan to order some of these here sometime soon.

Sunday Surprise

Today, Sunday, Mr. Awesome had decided to surprise me with a trip to a Flea Market in Jacksonville. It was a pretty neat experience as I love flea markets and I had never been to this one.

We found these goodies at the Flea Market…. some local honey with honeycomb, a handmade leather hair barrette, and an old coffee grinder. I was pretty happy these and I loved just seeing some of the antiques and getting more decorating ideas.

After the Flea Market we headed to IKEA. Another place I had never been too. I enjoyed walking the store and getting ideas for future projects. We also got 2 packs of FREE magazine holders when we entered the store. Yay!

IKEA just happened to be fairly close to where two of my sisters live and where Ms. Olivia is at now so we decided to see if we could stop in for a visit. Olivia was at work but my sister was home. We headed her way as I had some things I needed to pick up.

After chatting with her and my other sister for a bit we headed out to grab a bite of eat at Otaki Japanese Steakhouse. This was a great meal and we had plenty left to bring home for later.

On the way home we stopped for some old fashioned, hand scooped ice cream from one of Mr. Awesome’s favorite stops. He got the triple chocolate while I chose the Black Cherry. It was so good. I think we need to plan an ice cream outing with the kids soon.

God Knows What We Need Before We Do

Today was proof positive that God always knows what we need before we know and HE is always looking out for us.I had said out loud earlier this week that I need to keep an eye out for a new ‘Morning Basket’ as my previous on was not in the greatest shape. Well, my sister just happened to give me one that she wasn’t going to use:

Doesn’t it look so nice? Then I have also mentioned in a couple of posts that our microwave was on its last leg. She just happened to have one that she was getting rid of as well:

Between my two sisters and our Flea Market stop we ended up going home with a van load of stuff. This included some hand me downs from sister’s boys, some school supplies, the basket and microwave, the flea market finds, a couple of toys, and a bunch of clothes for me! I really was in need of some new clothes as many of my shirts have had some mysterious holes appearing in them lately. There were several other smaller items that I had been wanting that just happened to be in the totes as well.

As it turns out I found out later that Mr. Awesome had been craving some ‘Noodle Cookies’ which we call ‘Haystacks’. My sister had given me all of the ingredients to make a couple of batches of these too!

Wow! what a crazy week, huh? I still have some things to get put away but with the house being so much better organized it shouldn’t take too long. I was just way too tired this evening and I had a bit of a headache too.

This week we will be working in the kitchen. I have the ingredients to mix up some yummy cookies that I’ll try to post the recipe for later on this week. I’m sure we will also have a few more boxes come in so I’ll try to post some peeks of those too. I’m working on a post to unveil our homeschool curriculum for the 2018-2019 year and I’m hoping to have it out soon. It’s getting kinda late here so I guess I better go.

I hope you all have a wonderful week!
