Updated 12/5/18 I know Advent has already began but its never to late to learn about the true meaning of Christmas and to prepare ourselves for the coming of our Lord. Check out this old post with updated links for ideas on how to bring the joy of Christmas into your home this holiday season!
As I mentioned on the Holidays page I am attempting to do an Advent study here at our house. Sometimes I get so many ideas going in my head that I just can’t seem to get them in order in time to use them. This year I have went ahead and began ordering a few books and researching a few ideas on Pinterest. (I set a reminder on my Cozi Calendar to research Advent. Yes, if I hadn’t I probably would have forgotten. Sad but true.)
I will try my best to keep updating this post with resources that we have found and used. I will also try to post any lesson plans and/or activities that we do as well.
So far this is what I have:
Advent, explained (Short article explaining the celebration of Advent and its origins.)
The Story of Advent (Speed Sketch Bible Stories Series) (these are DVDs and they also have sets for other holidays)
Celebrate Jesus! at Christmas: For Advent Through Epiphany (This book has a lot of really good reviews. I haven’t had a chance to look through it yet. They also have one for Easter as well.)
All of these books and resources were found on Amazon and I ordered the used books. Some of them were discards from libraries and one of them has a few scribbles in it but they were well worth the money I paid. You can probably find them new on Amazon or at your local bookstore.
Crafts and Activities: (These links will take you to other sites.)
Purple Ribbon Christmas Advent Wreath. For Advent Calendar Season Candle Deocr and X-mas Candles Decorations (We have bought this new this year as many of our older items were ruined due to a leaky roof in our storage area. I added a white pillar candle to the middle of ours as well.)
